Cyanotype/sun printing 1.30-3pm, June 13th, 2021 (Teenagers/older children)
Cyanotype or sun printing is a fascinating way of taking a type of photograph using the sun. Using pre-prepared papers which have been soaked in cyanotype chemicals we will collect natural materials to capture their outline in an ethereal blue tone. Materials (plants, leaves, anything) are placed onto the treated paper and then placed in the sun for a period of time allowing the exposed paper to react with the UV in the suns rays. The paper is then 'washed' and the image where the material was placed is revealed.
This workshop is for older children and teenagers who may like to experiment with different exposure times and materials. We will explore the chemical process taking place. All materials provided. They will take home a number of artworks on quality papers worthy of framing and a beautiful card to send to someone.
